Duofilm is a combination of lactic and salicylic acid. Lactic acid affects the keratinisation process, reducing hyperkeratosis, which is characteristic of warts. It is caustic, which leads to the destruction of the keratotic tissue of the wart and causative virus. Salicylic acid is keratolytic, facilitating desquamation by solubilising the intercellular cement in the stratum corneum

Used externally against molluscum contagiosum, a skin lesion caused by a virus. Causes cells which are affected by the virus to dissolve and thereby produces a defence reaction of the skin in the region affected by molluscum contagiosum.
